What to expect

Whether you are looking for a complete smile makeover, experiencing a dental emergency or wanting an excellent dental cleaning, we partner with you to develop treatment options that keep you smiling for years to come.

Dealing with Dental Anxiety

Our patients peace of mind is in being relaxed comfortable and restful during all dental procedures.

For some people, visiting the dentist can be stressful. It is estimated that 35 million adults have anxiety at the thought of an upcoming dental visit and end up delaying their appointment. At Diamond Dental Group, P.C., we want you to know that we understand this anxiety and want to make your visit as pleasant as possible.

Here are a few tips to help you relax before and during a dental treatment:

  • Tell your dentist and the dental staff if you feel fearful, tense, or anxious. Talking about your fears can help your dentist tailor the treatment and pace to suit your needs.

  • Try to make your dental visit for a time when you won’t be rushed. You may find an early morning appointment less stressful than rushing to see the dentist directly after work.

  • Get a good night’s sleep the night before and eat light meals the day of your appointment.

  • Wear loose, comfortable clothes to your dental appointment. Avoid wearing tight collars or clothes that will restrict your movement.

  • Arrange a signal ahead of time with the dental staff, such as raising your hand, to let them know that you are feeling discomfort or need a break from a procedure.

  • Bring some music to listen to during your treatment.

  • Try visualization. Focus on a relaxing scene from a favorite vacation spot and keep it in your “mind’s eye” during the visit.

Don't be embarrassed to talk to Dr. Kaur about some medications, sedation options,  that are available to help create more relaxed, comfortable dental visits. The type of procedure, your overall health, history of allergies, and your anxiety level are considered when determining which approach is best for your particular case.

Your Comfort. Our Focus

We understand that comfort is a term not typically associated with the dentist. That is why our focus is providing you with a complete comfortable dental experience.

We offer standard dental sedation for all of our patients. Each one of our treatment rooms including our hygiene rooms is equipped with nitrous oxide or relaxing gas. This capability will help keep your experience a relaxed one. If you are particularly fearful of treatment or have a series of procedures performed during one visit, we also offer oral sedation.

Here are the comfort focused treatment options we offer for you:

Oral Sedation

Dental care can and has been a stressful circumstance for many individuals. Some times due to past experiences or just basic phobias dental care can be pretty stressful on our physical and emotional self. Dental treatment can cause fear and anxiety in some patients to the point of avoiding care all together. Our team strives and sets out to change this outlook. We go out of our way to help you relax and have several sedation alternatives to try and help out. Oral Sedation is a modality in which oral sedatives, most commonly benzodiazepines are used to help relax and consciously sedate our patients for increased comfort. When this option is exercised it will require someone to accompany you to our office as you are unfit to drive while on sedatives whatever the concentration. Provides mild sedation and can be used in conjunction with Nitrous oxide to help relax you even more. Some amount of monitoring is required and some questions will be asked about your health history when exploring this option for dental treatment.

Nitrous Oxide

Nitrous oxide is an air mixture administered through a nose piece that will help relax you while dental treatment is being performed. This can be done solo or in combination with oral sedatives for a more relaxed experience. If administered properly there are very little contraindications to using Nitrous oxide and once on oxygen for 5-10 minutes after treatment the affects of the gas completely subside.

Noise- Cancelling Headphones

We offer the use of the Bose sound reducing headphones, which can help drown out the sounds of doing dentistry, which some people find very unpleasant. When combined with the listening of your favorite playlist from your phone the experience will surprise you of how relaxed you can become while receiving quality dental care.

Comfortable neck pillow and blankets

In the clinical area we have made every effort to make the patient experience as comfortable as possible. Most dental offices are kept pretty cold because the dental professionals are hot working with gloves, masks, and gowns. We acknowledge that it feels cold in the operatory and provide warm fleece blankets for patients so that they are comfortable. We also provide neck pillows that are extremely comfortable and allow a patient’s head/neck to cradle into a position that is comfortable to maintain through long procedures.

Complimentary Wi-Fi Access

For those who need to be connected, we offers complimentary Wi-Fi for your on-line access in the waiting area as well as within all dental rooms..

New Patient Forms

We have made our new patient forms available to you as Adobe Acrobat files. For your convenience, we recommend printing and completing these forms at home.

Please remember to bring your completed forms with you for your first appointment. If you have any problem getting these files to print properly, please call our office and we will gladly mail, email or fax them to you.
